THE PALEOLITHIC KETOGENIC DIET

PKD®

The Paleolithic Ketogenic Diet is an evolutionarily adapted nutritional regimen. It was developed in Hungary by a team of medical professionals and researchers between 2010 and 2011. This diet is grounded in clinical evidence and based on data from thousands of patients, many of whom were suffering from serious health conditions.

The benefits of PKD come from different aspects:

  • its ability to induce ketosis - the natural physiological state of the human body

  • ensuring all essential nutrients needed

  • healing leaky gut syndrome by excluding all possible toxins and additives in food

The Paleolithic Ketogenic Diet (PKD) combines the benefits of the classical ketogenic diet and the Paleolithic diet, while addressing the weaknesses of both. This approach allows PKD to normalize pathological intestinal permeability, which is the root cause of many chronic diseases.

PKD comprises 70-100% animal-based foods and 0-30% plant-based foods. Only animal-based foods provide all the essential nutrients needed by humans. While certain plant foods are tolerated, they can be included in the diet for up to 30% of daily calories, depending on the health state of the individual.

Intestinal Permeability

Intestinal permeability is a key aspect of intestinal barrier function and is increasingly recognized as being crucial for both health and disease. Our modern, Western-type diet and lifestyle often lead to increased intestinal permeability due to the consumption of certain foods, medications, recreational drugs, and exposure to some toxins.

The intestinal barrier has a dual function: it must allow essential nutrients to be absorbed by the body while also serving as a protective barrier to prevent harmful substances, such as microorganisms and toxins, from passing through.

Normalizing intestinal permeability is critically important because dysfunction in biological membranes plays a crucial role in the development and progression of chronic diseases. The Paleolithic Ketogenic Diet (PKD) has been shown to reverse pathological intestinal permeability effectively.

The PKD is safe and does not lead to nutritional deficiencies. It is suitable for children, young people, adults, and seniors. However, it is not recommended for individuals with a few rare genetic or hereditary conditions.
